The PillCam capsule endoscopy allows the physician to visualize the small intestines which cannot be seen with an Upper Endoscopy or a Colonoscopy. A disposable camera that has a tiny, wireless camera that captures images as it travels through your small intestines. This camera is swallowed and the images are transmitted to a special recorder that the patient will wear throughout the day.

Our medical staff will prepare you and give you instructions regarding the preparation for the day of the visit. You will be asked to come into the office the morning of the procedure to swallow the capsule, which does not require sedation. The recorder belt will be fitted onto you and you will leave the office to resume your daily activities. The capsule will pass normally through your body. You will be asked to return the recorder belt at the end of that day to retrieve the images that will be downloaded and reviewed by the physician.
